Kitchen project and beyond

Its amazing how much better you feel when you do something to change your habitat. Everyone is loving the new kitchen and we can't wait to do another room. This is seriously addictive.

The girls helped paint and they have been helping set up the kitchen. Shannon decided that the best way to clean up spilled paint is to spit on it. Eeeeew. Seriously gross.

Shannon has four weeks to improve her school habits or she is going back to public school. I know, how many chances can one kid get? She is so happy around here, though. We'll see how many times I hit the roof in the next four weeks.

Tessa is learning how to control her facial expressions. I am seriously done with getting stink eye every time she gets a correction on her school work or her violin. She claims she doesn't know when she is doing it, oh man. I certainly hope she gets that under control. It would suck to be that nasty looking and not even know it :-)

On the upside, when she got in trouble at dance class last night, she was sincerely apologetic and managed to not give me any dirty looks or roll her eyes. There is hope!

The job hunt continues for Sven. I am just so glad that there is a hunt going on at all. Life feels like its on hold until money starts to flow in again. I guess that was why I needed to re-do the kitchen so badly. I really needed to feel like SOMETHING was moving in a positive direction. It worked, I think everyone feels better now.

Beowulf

The new bunny is named Beowulf.

Beowulf was an invincible hero from a medieval legend.
This is bunny number 3. He needs some invincibility on his side.

So afar, so good. He is the best bunny yet. He is smart and friendly and active. He loves to be stroked and cuddled and he hops around and explores.

He also likes to escape from his cage. When this happens, the dogs catch him and he is returned to me totally COVERED in dog goo. Best Bunny ever.

So scales finally kicked the bucket.
So did Moggs
Everyone was happy for Scales. He really did need to move on to fishy heaven.
Moggs made everyone very, very sad.

So we bought a new bunny. Beowulf.
Beowulf was a medieval warrior who was reputed to be invincible. I figured that since this is bunny number three, Beowulf is gonna need some serious invincibility on his side.

Shannon learned an important lesson about responsibility this weekend.

She had some paints in an art set. The art set was not supposed to be in her room. She hid it beneath the bed and a single tube of paint was not put all the way back into said art set. A blue tube of paint. Bright blue.

So the short story is, we now have a blue dog and blue spots on every carpet in the house. There is blue paint on the walls and on every floor. And did I mention that the dog is blue?

Scales is still alive.

Just thought you needed an update :-)

Wow. Its been a while. Sorry Jacqui.
What is new with us? The girls have learned some new words! I won't tell you what they are, but it sure is fun dealing with them.

We now have added a bunny to the menagerie. Moggs Bunnyhead. The cutest little lop-eared bunny ever.

We are constantly trying new things with Homeschooling. I recently made their schedules more specific, complete with times and assignment sheets. So far so good. But if there is one thing I have learned with these two, nothing works for long. They are like water, they will stay in their containers long enough to wear some cracks in the walls. Shannon especially likes to do this. Finding the cracks has always been her favorite pastime.

Speaking of water and containers. Our fish, Scales, is still hanging in there, but the kids are on daily death watch for this poor fish. This fish is pretty much the same age as the older dog and is barely moving around. She has survived the attack of the mosquito larvae and we cannot seem to keep the tank clean no matter what we do. Its terrible. Shannon recommended getting a new beta to help put Scales out of her misery. Great. Just what we need. Fish executions.

Indy (the Aussie pup) is being neutered this weekend and Shannon has decided to rail against this particular practice in true teenage "You old people have NO idea what you are doing" fashion. She feels that we are going to be taking Indy to the vet and they are going to "steal his soul". I am sure Sven might agree with her, but his desire to keep the dog from marking his territory is stronger than keeping the dog attached to his "soul". Its funny where men think the soul resides. Even funnier that Shannon agrees.

Tessa's ballet recital is this weekend and I am sure it will be full of dramatics and fun fun fun. Sven is actually going to be dancing with her. Well....he kind of stands there akwardly with a bunch of other dads, while the little girls dance around them. Pretty cute. We have a closet full of over priced costumes that we get to keep! Yay!  Its kind of like being in a wedding. A lot of planning, practice and hoopla for three minutes on stage and much ado about one little girl.

Excuse me, it has now been twenty minutes since Shannon was supposed to start practicing and she has managed to do nothing, so I guess I am going to have to go and take care of that now.

First Post

So, we have tried this before. Jacqui does such a good job and seems to have fun, se I figured we would try it again :-)
You might be wondering about the title. For anyone that knows my family, Shannon, the oldest daughter, loves wolves. Tessa, the younger daughter, and I love dancing. We tolerate Shannon's wolves and she tolerates all our dancing. So I thought the title fitting.
Sven? He is pretty much intolerant of the whole wolf thing as well as the dancing thing, but what can we say about that? He's Sven. And he plays the flute, so we can all be intolerant of that, right?
In any case, our life is busy and full and sometimes stressful and sometimes all of the busy-ness and fullness and stressfulness makes for humor.
So there ya go.
